MIR – Mobile Industrial Robots
Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) are autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) designed for internal logistics, using advanced sensor fusion and intelligent navigation software to move materials safely in dynamic industrial environments. Technically, they rely on a multi-sensor system that includes 360° safety laser scanners (e.g.,LiDAR), 3D cameras, proximity sensors, and IMU/encoder data to enable real-time localization, obstacle detection, and collision avoidance. Their navigation system combines global and local path planning algorithms, where a global planner computes an optimal route on a map while a local planner continuously adapts the path using live sensor data to avoid obstacles and ensure safe motion.
